I'll have to admit that I'm a bit biased when it comes to ideas for class equipment and teaching aids. Granted, I grew up in the age of OHPs, cassette players, mimeographs, reel-to-reel films (\"Free To Be You and Me,\" anyone?). As a 20 year IT veteran, I would be very hard pressed not to be tempted to utilize all the latest technology at my disposal to aid in teaching. This is not say, of course, that one should rely on technology or equipment/teaching aids to carry the lesson. I would agree, however, that the use of technology and glitzy visual aids definitely helps to grab and hold your audience's attention, thereby aiding in active participation, interest, and retention of material by the students. Anything that gets your students excited about learning English or the class material is fair game.
