This unit focused on Lesson Planning, its importance, and its aim in giving direction, structure, but not rigidity to a lesson. It is imperative that lesson plans are kept concise, and have a lot of room for interpretation and adaptation to the classroom environment. It is best to plan lessons in the designated ESA structure, whether you choose to straight-arrow, boomerang, or patchwork is up to the teacher and given subject matter. It is important to outline the learning objectives for students, the topics the teacher wishes to cover, anticipated problems or difficulties (with possible solutions), classroom materials and personal teaching goals. Lesson plans should have general time outlines, activities to be completed, and lots of backup ideas in case the class moves too quickly or needs a change of pace.
