This unit discussed the 2 important productive skills, speaking and writing. When speaking, accuracy and fluency are the two factors to be considered in the lesson planning. Accuracy is focused on producing accurate language and is normally controlled whereas fluency is focused on creating flow and effectiveness in communication. These two factors are equally important in speaking. Teachers should create activities that cater to these two factors of speech production. Writing skills rely on handwriting, spelling, punctuation, and creativity to be effective. Of course, good writing skills need a foundational understanding of the English grammar as well but in order to help a student with his/her writing skills, it is important to guide the students in the said areas of spelling, handwriting, and punctuation.
