This was a very valuable lesson to me because it provided a structural framework for how to lead a class. In Unit 1, I learned that teacher as gentle monitor is often the most effective role for an entire class. In Unit 2, I learned the different ways to create an atmosphere that is both critical and creative. The phases of an ESA lesson are invaluable because it allows for fluidity between conepts but also a coherence and accountability for the students. Learning how to correct and assess has always been a challenge of mine and knowing when and how to correct students will ease tension for me and my students. Lastly, this unit briefly mentioned the importance of soliciting feedback from your students. I think this is a crucial component in effective and fair teaching, one that I will implement more explicitly.
