This unit covered some general problems that a teacher may encounter in a classroom such as how to deal with some students having a much higher level of English than others. There are several ways to tackle such situations but generally speaking, a combination of different methods seem to be the most effective. Rapport with the students is also extremely important. With this in mind, rather than only focusing on the textbook all the time, teachers should read the mood of the class and start with fun warmer activities if necessary. At the end of the day, a comfortable learning environment is essential to the students' learning so extra attention should be paid to this area. If students are constantly resorting to their mothertongue, the teacher should reanalyse whether or not the material is of an appropriate level.
