In this chapter I learned that many elements to teaching that I may have taken for granted are very key in making sure that English teaching is effective such as: Good eye contact, fluctuating the voice, appropriate gestures, and usuing students' names. How the class is arranged also is key in determining how formal or relaxed a classroom environment is. My experience with language classes has always been in the formal setting. Only more recently in my life have I experienced circular seating arrangements. For me, the circular arrangement was much more conducive to my learning and it helped me to pay attention and feel more involved in the class. It also helped in establishing rapport with the other students and the teachers, which for me was vital in learning the target language because I felt more relaxed and happy.
