This unit is has introduced to me the categories of Receptive and Productive skills. It makes total sense once explained. I agree that they are all equally important, how else can students truly gain a mastery of the English language if not all are being targeted. I often observe that my students have the easiest time listening and reading. Across all levels, even with beginner students, they are able to latch on to words and phrases and what they don't understand they will use context to get the ideas. As producers of English there is a big disconnect. While these students are not my own since they have their own teachers, I will try to incorporate a combination of skills. As I seek to help other learners of English I am learning that variety and interest is a great approach to teaching and supporting students as they progress.
