This unit highlighted the important relationship between a teacher and her students, concentrating on the qualities that make up a good teacher as well as those that constitute a willing and enthusiastic learner. Teachers need to be fully aware of the level of competency of each of the students, using a variety of methods to encourage them to constantly and consistently improve their level of English language usage. It is also important for the teacher to be aware of the aim of her students for wanting to learn English and to adjust her approach accordingly. The teacher should be enthusiastic, sensitive and motivated to bring out the very best in all of her students, and to make her classes entertaining and worthwhile. Her lessons should therefore be interesting, informative, enjoyable, varied, and suited to the level of her students.
