This unit covers how a teacher should go about teaching new language to students. The unit starts to describe what a teacher should consider when choosing new vocabulary, what students need to know about a new vocabulary item and suitable techniques for vocabulary teaching. The next point the unit covers is grammatical structures and what the students need to know about new grammatical structures in terms of meaning, use, forms and patterns and written and spoken patterns. Suitable techniques for presenting and practicing grammatical structures are also introduced. Lastly the unit covers language functions. I feel that I have learnt what to consider when introducing new language items to students, whether it be vocabulary, grammatical structures or language functions. I have also learnt which types of ESA lessons are suitable for each language item.
