In this unit we've looked at lesson planning. In time, and withow experience, planning can become simpler and more fluid, but for a new teacher it's important to plan classes in advance and think about lesson outcomes and the resources needed for each class. Lesson plans don'the need to be complicated, but should include enough information to allow a substitute teacher to take over the class in case of illness etc. Plans should give the lesson objectives and some detials of the class and the go on to show the various procedures or tasks and for each, give the relevant phase of the lesson, expected duration of each task and interaction (teacher-student, student-student). It's useful to think of potential problems and strategies to deal with them while planning and to detail these on the lesson plan. A sample lesson plan and template were also given.
