In Unit 1, I learned about the different characteristics that make a good teacher as well as different characteristics that make a good learner. Upon reflecting on this unit, I considered the relationship between these two sets of characteristics. It seems that there would be a circumstance that would result in optimal learning. For instance, if the teacher fits many of the positive traits of what makes a 'good' teacher, and the learner has motivations to do well and possesses the confidence and opportunity to do so, learning outcomes would be best. I am well aware that this will not and is not often the case. I think it is important to keep this in mind as a teacher and to be able to pinpoint where a teacher-student relationship is not succeeding in order to address any issues and be able to use this information to improve the outcome of a student's experience.
