The unit covered the developmental process of course design while introducing the many stages of contact with clients. Many testing methods were introduced along with the types of syllabi we should use and how to create the best one for our class. Evaluation at the end of the course was also discussed. The main thing that I didn?t know was the many different syllabi that exist and how important it is to find out what type of class you are teaching and develop your syllabus around that class and their specific needs. I always thought a syllabus was basically just structural. I had no idea there were also functional, learner led and situational syllabi. Lastly, I learned about the many testing methods that are used such as diagnostic, placement, aptitude, achievement, proficiency and progress which are all very important but in some cases they sound the same.
