This unit has placed emphasis on the importance of course books and its materials. However, it clearly teaches us that we need to consider several student factors when making decisions on using authentic materials or created materials. We do note that created materials can be graded to the level of the students which is imperative to stay within the boundaries of their understanding. You would not, as a teacher, want to provide material that students feel are too difficult or too intimidating. Therefore, understanding the students needs and abilities is important. When considering course books there are a lot of advantages and disadvantage when planning on what course books to choose from and if the teacher is lucky enough too chose their own course books then there are factors that I have learnt that needs to be considered before the final decision is agreed upon.
