Unit 7 discusses how to teach a new language and goes over Engage-Study-Activate ideas for vocabulary lessons, grammar lessons, grammatical function lessons, and language function lessons. The unit discusses vocabulary selection for a lesson and lists a set of criteria that can be used when choosing; for example, some criteria include appropriacy to the students, frequency and coverage, and teachability. For a lesson discussing grammar usage, it?s important students know meaning, usage, forms and patterns, and differences in spoken and written form. For language function lessons, it is important to activate the language so a boomerang or patchwork lesson is ideal.
