This unit looked at the different parts of speech. It broke down the basic sentence structure as a subject, verb, then object. Some basic word categories include nouns, verbs, and adjectives. This can be broken down further into pronouns, adverbs, different forms of verbs and adjectives, and so on. All the variety of exceptions to all the rules were listed and were given explanations, or the best explanation that can be given. The biggest lesson I learned from this unit is that there is not always a great explanation as to why something is said or spelled the way it is. The simple idea of memorization is incredibly important if one wants to become fluent in a language.
