This unit really showed just how crazy the English language could be. I definitely don't think about pronunciation often, and I definitely don't think about phonology. It was fascinating learning about intonation and how simple rises and falls can change the meaning of a message. I am also rarely conscious of where I am putting the stress in a sentence, and so it was good to get a refresher on this, as well as learn some useful tools in how to teach it. The articulation section was super interesting; it broke down all the different organs and muscles that we use to create speech, and how slight changes in the placement of these body parts can completely change a sound.
