Keeping in mind that novice teachers may need more structured lesson plans than experienced teachers, this unit shared specific structures for creating a lesson plan that incorporates all the facets recommended for teaching a successful lesson. The most important aspects I found useful were the objectives where you clearly outline what you intend the students to get out of your lesson, and the assessment where you can be self-critical and recognize what did and did not work, making notes on adjustments needed for the future. Both of these aspects of the plan seem important in being prepared for a lesson and in making sure that lessons continually get better and better.
