Reviewing the past tenses was much like learning the present tense, but more simple in many ways. For the most part, they all look and act very simply and differently. It's easy to find clue words in the grammatical structures. Unlike present, where the perfect tenses looked like past and had nuanced usages which easily led to confusion, past perfects have very specific uses which keep the meanings clear. The difficulty with past tenses seems to mostly revolve around how to use them in effective, entertaining, and varied methods. Past simple had a few more fun ideas than the others, but with some imagination and creatives uses of earlier activities, it can be done well.
