There were some things in this lesson that were surprising to learn or that I hadn't really thought about before. For example, I always assumed speaking was more difficult than writing, because of the spontaneous element. But I hadn't thought about how writing can be difficult because of spelling, punctuation, differences between spoken and written English, etc. I also hadn't considered the possibility of needing to help students with their English handwriting if their L1 uses a non-Roman writing system. I also liked the explanation of when to focus on accuracy vs. on fluent production. Finally, I enjoyed the section on why and how to incorporate games in the classroom.
