This unit contains helpful ideas and information on how to deal with problem situations. First lessons can be difficult, it is a good idea to establish rapport between students and between the teacher and the class, especially with new groups. The teacher could aldo use warmer activities such as hangman or pictionary to gain interest. In large classes, the teacher might use activities such as; group or pair work, worksheets and choral repetition to help involve all students equally. Some students might be reluctant to participate for various reasons but it is up to the teacher to encourage and motivate all students equally whie using English instead of native languages.
