Equipment available in classrooms ranges from chalkboards to computer-aided language learning, and each has advantages and disadvantages. Chalkboards and whiteboards must be used with clear, legible, well-organized text with minimal use of unnecessary capital letters. Overhead projectors may be antiquated but still hold several advantages, like being able to write and organize them ahead of time instead of on the fly. More technological equipment, like interactive whiteboards, PowerPoint, etc., can be used effectively but must be checked ahead of time to make sure they work, plus the teacher must make backup plans for when they inevitably fail in the middle of a lesson.
