This unit discussed the different elements of the classroom. I reviewed the roles of both the teacher and the learner. I particularly enjoyed the discussion of the many roles of a teacher, as this information will enable me to steer clear of the trap of focusing on one role to the exclusion of other roles. It was beneficial to explore the difference between teaching English to adults, and to children. This information helps me focus on the strengths the children in my classroom have and not expect things they are not yet able to grasp. Finally, the ability to discern the levels of language ability will assist me greatly as I teach my students and evaluate their progress.
