This unit involved watching two videos of a lesson for teaching auxillary verbs \"can\" and \"can't\". The first video lesson included many teacher errors, including not giving praise to students, saying that it was \"easy\" material anyone can understand, failing to use gestures or even smile, among others. The consequences were clear -- students were intimidated, not very engaged, and didn't seem very happy to be there. In the second lesson, the teacher was much more engaging, positive, and encouraged the students to participate in a more varied and interesting lesson. I learned that the teacher's attitude and manner of speaking makes a huge difference to the students.
