The unit talks about various ways of assessing students'language level -tutorials, evaluation by the student and tests. what i learned in this unit had to do with various types of tests-placement tests, progress tests, diagnostic tests, practice tests. Placement tests are administered by teachers to place new students into correct class. Progress tests are tests taken by students to measure extent to which language has been retained and that which has been forgotten. Diagnostic tests are also taken at the start of the course to see what students already know. Practice tests are the external examinations which students take. Examples are TOEFL, IELTS, TOIEC, etc.
