The content of this unit went over several different methods of teaching and learning a language. Each has its own strengths, as well as its weak points. It introduced the method of Engage, Study, Activate as the preferred method of teaching English, and described how to use it in a classroom setting with examples and variations on the method (patchwork and boomerang). The lesson also gave some tips on giving corrections, and that this is often a sticking point new teachers experience because they do not always give corrections in the most productive and encouraging way. The lesson gave many examples of activities for the Engage phase of ESA toward the end of the reading.
