This unit covers the most common problems an English teacher can face during the class. Some of them are: - the very first class in a new or already existing group; - when students of one group have different level; - teaching large classes; - use of L1 (native language of the students); - teaching reluctant students; - difficulties with listening activities; A lot of useful pieces of advice on how to deal with these problems are provided in this unit. For instance, use of a tape recorder for students who are reluctant to speak in public; or if students are trying to speak their native language, make sure you don't respond (in order to encourage them to use English more).
