This unit covered the various forms of the past tense: past simple, past continuous, past perfect, and past perfect continuous; and how these forms are used. There are some difficulties in choosing the correct past tense of a verb, depending on the completion of the action, on time references, and determining whether a verb is regular or irregular. This unit provided good examples for each, although of course it is not feasible to have a complete list of all the verbs in the English language. An issue that I would have found useful (if addressed further) is how to more easily explain to beginners the reasons for using the particular form of the past tense in a sentence.
