What materials to use in the classroom and how to use it is an important component of planning a class. There are two types of materials, authentic and created. Authentic materials can be more interesting and engaging for learners, as it is usually up to date and using it helps boost student confidence. However, authentic material might be too difficult for beginner students, as it is not graded. Created materials are specifically made to help facilitate teaching. A common item used in classrooms is a course book. When selecting an appropriate course book, it is prudent to consider the level of the students, the aims of the class, the methodology of the book, the price in relation to the students resources, and other factors. In the end, when decided what materials to use, the students and their needs need to be the primary focus.
