This unit discusses the books and materials used during a lesson. The materials are divided in 2 groups of authentic - anything a native speaker would read or hear, which should be also carefully selected by the teacher and real in order to be interesting and motivating, and created materials - designed by the teacher to replace or supplement materials from a course book, as examples are also given. Course books are set of materials as student`s book, workbook, cassettes, teacher`s book, etc. Their use, advantages and disadvantages are also discussed. Main factors of analyzing a course book are based on price, availability, design, methodology, skills, difficulty, syllabus, topic and teacher`s guid.
