This unit describes the difference between authentic course materials and created course materials. I learned that created course materials usually include crosswords, word searches, role-play cards, flashcards, gap-fill activities, and picture stories. This unit also illustrates examples of samples of created materials, such as sample flashcards for learning vocabulary, and sample role-play cards for the activate stage. Furthermore, this unit explains the disadvantages and advantages of using a course book. For example, an advantage of using a course book is that it provides a syllabus that has been tried before publication, and it provides a balanced mix of grammar, vocabulary, and skills work.
