Receptive skills are very important because it helps the students process the language in a way that they understand what is being said and can respond accordingly. This is incredibly important to keep in the classroom when teaching the language even when they are learning the basics of English. It helps them be able to interact with the language.This unit gave very clear yet detailed characteristics of modal verbs, active and passive voice and different types of phrasal verbs. I learned a new piece of grammar concerning relative clauses and its punctuation depending on whether a clause dependent or independent. I also learned about the relative pronoun whom which is not used much anymore.
