This unit gave me what seems to be some basic points of consideration in developing criteria to present to my students. Considerations around what vocabulary and grammatical functions are appropriate and available for my students is useful because it will allow for more mindful lesson planning. I also found that revisiting the ESA models (boomerang, patchwork, straight arrow) refreshed my memory on what techniques these each represent. Examples of possible activities for each phase, whether for teaching grammar, parts of speech, or vocabulary, helped me to envision ways I might introduce topics when I worked on the unit worksheet.
