In this unit, I learned about conditionals and reported speech. Conditionals are sentences containing \"if\" and refer to past, present and future possibilities. Teaching ideas include split sentences, chain conditionals, and sentence completion. This unit also discussed reported speech which might begin as present tense but shifts to past tense when reported by a third party. Teaching ideas include putting students into groups of three and role playing a feud between arguing neighbors or friends and having a mediator be the sole communicator to relay messages between the two. Media interviews are also a way to teach this subject.
