My thoughts are as follows: It is important to ensure that learners comprehend the meaning of new vocabulary and recieve enough input to develop subconscious grammar. Being able to produce accurate language as well as self-correct comes from an innate sense of what feels right. This can only be done if they have enough input that is grammatically accurate, otherwise they internalize incorrect grammar. I agree that the start of a lesson needs to be multi-sensory, involving the use of realia and visuals to create a foundation of meaning in the minds of the students. Then come the repetitions to bring it into their long term memories.
