In this unit I learned the terms and methods of teaching pronunciation and phonology. As the text pointed out, I had never formally learned any of this material, so I found it challenging but interesting to put words to what I intuitively know. The unit covered intonation, stress, and pronunciation and techniques to teach each such as clapping, humming, tongue twisters, modeling, and mouth diagrams. I learned terms to describe how each sound is formed and found the chart helpful to describe every sound with both the manner and place of articulation. Finally, the unit introduced the phonemic alphabet and gave some practice using it.
