Unit 11 was on receptive skills (reading and listening skills) and how to properly teach them. When it comes to increasing a students ability to read and write the most important part in my opinion is the choice of topic the teacher chooses to generate interest among the class. Since the topic decides the engagement level of the students, if the topic is intriguing it can be used as a motivator for the students. They will be urged to proceed in the lesson and take an interest effectively and inactively. On the other hand if the subject is dull and dry, there is very little reason the students will take an interest and want to learn.
