The unit has clarified how to go about teaching the receptive skills of reading and listening. We read and listen for entertainment or for a specific purpose. While teaching receptive skills one can use different texts or recordings such as instruction brochures, interviews, and biographies. I've learnt about a couple new sub skills of reading for prediction and reading for deduction. I've learnt about the issues that can arise while teaching receptive skills and how those issues can be avoided by careful selection of texts and recordings. I've learnt how to structure a basic straight arrow and patchwork receptive skills ESA lesson.
