Given that Unit 18 was the last grammar-heavy unit of this course it was expected that it would also be the most difficult to digest in terms of rules and regulations of the presented structures. It covered modal verbs, passive voice and phrasal verbs. Although the first two are fairly standard in use and are frequently taught at the level with which I am familiar I would be willing to argue that most native speakers of English have no idea how to parse phrasal verbs based on rules of use. For this very reason their three aspects gave me the most trouble in attempting to figure out how one would go about describing this to students.
