The unit contains information about receptive skills: listening and reading. We all know that reasons for doing these activities may vary, but we do it mainly for a purpose or entertainment. To listen and to read effectively the students need to have a number of specialist skills such as scanning, skimming, searching for detailed information, deduction from context and predictive skills. The unit provides some pieces of advice about managing the lessons in order to teach students all these skills. Besides, there are some extracts from a student book in the unit. Thus, I have got a chance to create my own ESA lesson plans, using them.
