This unit covered four English past tenses. It included information on the tenses' structure and formation, their usages, and common mistakes students make when learning them. I have learned that the rules governing the usage of these tenses are fairly straightforward once able to recognize key words (eg, past participles, \"ing\" endings, etc.)The difficulty (I would imagine) for learners of English to use the tenses correctly in speech and writing would be in knowing when and why a particular form is being used in place of another. For example, why a speaker might use, say the past continuous instead of the past perfect continuous.
