Writing is the most neglected skill in teaching English. Speaking and writing are used for communication for many reasons. These reasons are: some communicative purpose, they want to say something, they want to listen to something, or they are interested in what is being said. Accuracy and fluency are of equal importance. They come from different stages of the lesson. Accuracy comes from the study phase and fluency comes from the activate phase. Drilling and prompting are examples of accuracy activities. Debates and simulations are examples of fluency activities. Activities like group work and pair work encourage student interaction.
