This unit covered what students need to know about grammar, vocabulary, and language structures. It also provided techniques on how to teach all three in the Engage, Study, and Activate phases of a lesson. It was interesting to me that grammar, vocabulary, and language structures can each require a different approach. I also had never thought about language functions such as agreeing, inviting, and rejecting as structures or patterns in a language that must be taught. I believe that, before teaching any of these functions, it would be wise to study the students' native culture to avoid any possible awkward or insulting situations.
