This lesson was interesting and was focused on two skills listening and reading. These are called receptive skills because we are receiving the information. We learned that there are different ways we read and listen, broadly speaking, we can either listen and read for pleasure or for a purpose. There is also skills we can have while reading including, skimming, scanning, predicting, and deducing or seeing the bigger picture. There are some issues that can arise when trying to read including, difficult words, and boring topics. The teacher will have to engage the students with interesting topics as well as pre teach difficult words.
