In this unit I got to learn about the importance of teaching receptive skills. I learned that the receptive skills are reading and listening, but that all four basic skills of any language are equally important and should be included in each lesson (but focusing on a certain skill each time). I also learned that people read and listen for two reasons, to learn/achieve something and for entertainment/pleasure. I also learned that there are different ways that people read and listen, through skimming, looking for detailed information, and predicting. I also learned the importance of pre-teaching vocabulary that might be hard to students.
