This lesson covered topics relating to pedagogy: teaching techniques and the theory behind them, a variety of lesson structures and appropriate activities for each stage of the lesson plan, the importance of addressing errors, and how to give feedback in ways that encourage student. One thing that I learned from this unit is that empowering students to help themselves improve, or to help their classmates improve is extremely important. In that sense, one of the teacher's main roles in the classroom is a facilitator for the students' learning, rather than an authority figure that merely walks the students through a series of activities.
