This unit describes advanced grammar: modals, phrasal verbs, and the passive voice. Modals include: can, could, might, ought to, shall, have to, and so forth. They are used in various situations, including obligation, possibility, permission, ability, and advice. The passive verb should not give students fear. They are used when we are not sure who is doing the action, and there are various types of relative clauses within the passive voice, including the independent clause, the dependent clause, and the relative clause. Finally, phrasal verbs are ones that come with one or two particles. There are three types: intransitive, transitive separable, and transitive inseparable.
