This unit covered the remainder of mainstream, commonly-used grammatical structures essential to the TEFL course. In particular, it discussed modals like could and should, the passive voice in all tenses, and phrasal verbs. I found this section's discussion of the passive very instructive; while I am familiar with the grammatical constructions of the passive voice, I definitely want to think long and hard about how I will teach it. Oftentimes, students are told that good English writing comes down to using only the active voice, but this is just not true: the passive has its uses, and I want to be able to convey those essential uses that this chapter discusses to my students.
