The unit focuses on the methods of teaching receptive skills, reading and listening. First of all, all the skills are of equal importance to learners, so a teacher needs to organize his/her plans in such a way as to keep a balance in developing all skills, rather than concentrating on one or two of them. As to receptive skills, they can be subdivided according to purposes they are activated for: looking for special info or entertainment. When it comes to teaching receptive skills a teacher should take into consideration many questions: topics (level of difficulty should be appropriate to the students), students' interests, task that can be used after the reading or listening.
