I stopped and put my face in my palm when I got to the part about not over elaborating. I can see how I have done that in the past. I appreciated the part about giving lots of exposure to the language. The chapter showed that students are not going to absorb the language unless they are immersed in it. For classroom instructions, keep it simple, and showing is better than doing. The lesson talked about calling on students by name. I realized that in my classes I only know the names of 10% of the kids. After this unit I commit to learning every name. I will take their pictures and write their names on a chart. I really think the suggestion about asking questions in random order.
