This unit illustrated to me the use of ESA format teaching, lesson planning, fun activities, and the difference that attitude can have on the outcome of a lesson. The first lesson was terrible and it was good to see what not to do - the teacher did not explain the content covered in the lesson, did not give students time or space to answer his questions, and even ignored some students who were trying to participate. In contrast, the second lesson was amazing. The same man with the same students had a vastly different experience where the students felt welcome to participate, make mistakes and learn. That is exactly the kind of learning environment I want to foster as a teacher.
